Metso to set up facility in India

New Delhi: Finnish engineering and technology firm Metso is planning to invest around €30 million to establish a multi-functional industrial facility in India. The proposed facility, to be called Metso Park, will host both Metso’s own new operations and selected key suppliers.

To be located near Alwar, Rajasthan, Metso Park will initially cater to meeting the rapid growth in demand for Metso Minerals’ products and services in India and will include office premises, several workshops, warehousing and a logistics centre, a company release said.

“With the investment, Metso aims to enhance its logistics, inventory control, operational quality and productivity as well as supplier relationships. The implementation of the Metso Park concept is subject to regulatory approvals,” the statement said.

The proposed Park will initially manufacture mobile screening plants, pumps and rubber products for the construction and mining customers in India, while some products and components will also be exported, the release said. Operations at Metso Park are expected to commence in the second half of 2009.

Late last year, Metso had announced a €Euro 12.5-million investment in expanding foundry and manufacturing operations and office facilities in India. Metso’s net sales in India were around Euro €150 million in 2007.
