Michelin to Boost Sourcing from India for Global Manufacturing Plants.

French tyre giant Michelin, which has been manufacturing truck and bus tyres at its Chennai factory since 2009, recently launched its first Made-in-India passenger car tyre from the facility.

Speaking about the milestone, Vitor Silva, President of Africa, India & Middle East at Michelin, emphasized India’s strategic importance to the company. “India is the fastest-growing market and presents significant opportunities for the next 10 to 15 years,” Silva said.

He further revealed Michelin’s plans to increase sourcing from India to support its other manufacturing plants worldwide, underlining the country’s growing role in Michelin’s global supply chain.

The launch marks a key step in Michelin’s expansion in India as it seeks to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for passenger vehicles and strengthen its footprint in the region.
