The Motilal Oswal Group will invest ₹1,500 crore in Inox Clean Energy, the integrated renewable energy platform of the INOXGFL Group, as the company accelerates its expansion through acquisitions and capacity additions.
Of the total committed investment, ₹1,000 crore has already been infused through compulsorily convertible debentures (CCDs), the company said on Thursday.
The investment comes as Inox Clean Energy expands its renewable power generation and solar manufacturing businesses. It follows a ₹700-crore investment by the Adar Poonawalla Family Office.
Other investors in Inox Clean Energy and its subsidiaries include CalPERS, RJ Corp, Hero Group, Authum Investments and Akash Bhansali, along with several family offices and high-net-worth investors.
The fresh capital will primarily support the company's growth plans, with a particular focus on inorganic expansion. Over the past 18 months, Inox Clean Energy has strengthened its portfolio through a series of acquisitions.
These include the manufacturing assets of US-based Boviet Solar and renewable energy platforms backed by global investors, including BlackRock-owned GIP's Vena Energy, Macquarie-owned Vibrant Energy, SHV-owned SunSource Energy and CalPERS-backed SkyPower, including its Africa business.
The latest investment is expected to further strengthen Inox Clean Energy's ability to pursue acquisitions and expand its renewable energy and solar manufacturing capacities.
