MRPL to double name-plate capacity
Mangalore: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has planned to increased the name-plate capacity of the refinery from 9.69 mtpa (million tonnes per annum) to 11.82 mtpa.
Presently, MRPL is implementing phase-III refinery project for increasing the refining capacity from 9.69 mtpa to 15 mtpa.
The phase-III expansion will help process low price high sulphur/high acidic heavy crude oil for increasing the distillate yield by upgrading low value black oil and producing value-added products such as propylene.
