Mulanthuruthy-Piravom track inspected.

The second railway track between Mulanthuruthy and Piravom is set for commissioning this month end after the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a track safety inspection recently

Railway sources said that cut and connection work with the track under use is scheduled to be held on December 20 since the CRS found no major anomalies in the new track. A few minor corrections would be done based on his recommendations. Till then, trains can travel along the new track with speed restrictions, they said.

Recently, speed trial specials, motor trolleys, light engines, and material trains operated in the newly-constructed line between Mulanthuruthy and Piravam Road from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Overhead equipment in the section too were energized for test purpose.
