Naidu: Visakha Economic Region Key to Andhra Pradesh Development.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set an ambitious target for the state, directing officials to develop the 'Visakha Economic Region' as the primary growth engine of Andhra Pradesh, with a goal of achieving a $120 billion economy from the region by 2032.

During a high-level meeting, Chief Minister Naidu articulated a vision to transform Visakhapatnam into an economic powerhouse akin to Mumbai within the next seven years. The expansive 'Visakha Economic Region' encompasses eight key districts: Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR), and Manyam.

The Chief Minister has instructed officials to identify and expedite projects that will stimulate robust economic activity across this vast 8-district zone. A key directive from Naidu is the identification of one lakh acres of land specifically for various development projects within the region.

The Visakha Economic Region spans a considerable 36,000 square kilometers and is currently home to a population of 15.5 million people. Its current Gross Domestic Product (GDP) stands at approximately $49 billion, as per an official release. Naidu emphasized the immense potential of the region, projecting the creation of 20 to 24 lakh new jobs by 2032, making it a critical driver for the state's overall economic future.

This strategic focus on the Visakha Economic Region highlights the government's intent to leverage the natural advantages and existing infrastructure of the northern coastal districts to spearhead Andhra Pradesh's economic resurgence and create substantial employment opportunities for its burgeoning workforce.
