Airlines and government agencies, including the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the Central Industrial Security Force, are in the final stages of readiness for the commercial launch of the Navi Mumbai airport.
The airport is slated for a formal inauguration on September 30, with flight operations expected to commence a few weeks later, following a comprehensive security sweep.
Airlines are already preparing their teams. Approximately 150 IndiGo ground staff have reportedly applied for internal job postings at the new airport. These employees will be given preference over external candidates, with the final number of new hires dependent on the initial scale of operations. The airline is also planning separate bases for its crew and pilots to support the new flights.
