"NDA Allocates ₹6,362 Crore for Railway Development in Tamil Nadu: Ashwini Vaishnaw"
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced recently that the NDA government has allocated a "record amount" of ₹6,362 crore for the development of railways in Tamil Nadu. According to Vaishnaw, this allocation is over seven times greater than the average annual allocation during the UPA era, which was ₹879 crore.
The minister's statement on X (formerly Twitter) came in response to concerns raised by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin regarding the reduction in funds for railway projects in Tamil Nadu. Vaishnaw addressed these concerns by highlighting that the progress of projects could be expedited if the state government assisted in land acquisition. He noted that only 807 hectares of the required 2,749 hectares of land have been acquired to date.
"We seek your intervention in land acquisition. If you take one step, we will take two steps for the development of railways in Tamil Nadu," Vaishnaw said, emphasizing the need for state support to move projects forward.
