New Mangalore Port Targets Growth in Liquid Cargo Handling.

The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) marked its golden jubilee with the launch and foundation-laying of multiple projects worth over ₹1,200 crore, signalling a major push to boost its liquid cargo handling capacity and strengthen its position in the oil, gas, petrochemicals, and edible oil sectors.

Key among the initiatives was the foundation stone laying for Aegis Vopak’s ₹70-crore LPG evacuation terminal designed for rake-based transportation, and GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd’s ₹20-crore paraxylene booster pumping station.

The port also inaugurated Aegis Vopak’s ₹500-crore oil and gas storage facility, spread across 85,000 sq m and capable of handling 2 million tonnes of cargo annually. The expansion underscores NMPA’s ambition to grow its footprint in energy transport and logistics.
