New panel to ensure timely completion of projects.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday ordered the setting up of a three-member committee, which will regularly interact with contractors to ensure timely completion of government projects.

Mr. Khattar was presiding over a meeting to review the Chief Minister (CM) announcement of five departments: Agriculture, Urban Local Bodies, Public Works (Building and Roads), Development, and Panchayats and Irrigation.

The committee will comprise Additional Chief Secretary (Public Health Engineering) P. K Mahapatra; Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works - Building and Roads) Alok Nigam; and Principal Secretary (Irrigation) Anurag Rastogi.

Departmental issues

The committee will convene meetings with the Contractors’ Association, interact with the contractors and redress their grievances, if any.

The CM also directed that a mechanism be formulated to resolve inter-departmental issues so as to ensure that progress of development works and projects is not hamper.

He further directed the administrative secretaries of the departments to review the progress of CM announcement every week.

Mr. Khattar added that a list of issues that can be resolved by the central government be submitted to him at the earliest so that the ministries concerned can take up the issues.

He said that development projects in which land issues are involved, the department concerned could upload their demand on the e-Bhoomi Portal.

The Chief Minister was informed that a meeting would be held soon with the officers of the National Highways Authority of India and Indian Railways so that work on various projects in the State could be started at the earliest.
