NextGen Signs ₹10,000-Crore MoU for Semiconductor Fab and Opto Unit in Gujarat.
NextGen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to establish a ₹10,000-crore compound semiconductor fabrication and optoelectronics facility at Dholera.
The project will be developed in technical collaboration with semiconductor firms from Japan and Taiwan, Gujarat government officials announced on Wednesday. Hitachi (Japan) and Solidlite (Taiwan) are among the key technology partners supporting the initiative, confirmed Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, at the Gujarat SemiConnect event in Gandhinagar.
This investment adds to Gujarat’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, where four major semiconductor projects worth ₹1.24 lakh crore have already been announced. Among them, Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) and Taiwan’s PSMC are jointly developing India’s first AI-enabled semiconductor fabrication facility with an investment of over ₹91,000 crore.
