"NHAI is finalizing the plans for the new Vijayawada–Bengaluru corridor."

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for a new connectivity project aimed at linking the northern parts of Bengaluru with the Vijayawada expressway.

As part of the proposal, the existing NH-44 (Bengaluru–Hyderabad) will be upgraded to a 10-lane highway over a stretch of about 90 km. The upgraded corridor will include a six-lane main carriageway running from Devanahalli in Karnataka to Kodikonda in Andhra Pradesh.

From Kodikonda, the highway will be seamlessly integrated with the greenfield section of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada expressway, which passes through Kadapa. The project is expected to significantly improve inter-state connectivity and reduce travel time between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
