NHAI to Upgrade Delhi-Rohtak Road into World-Class Highway.

In a significant move to enhance Delhi’s road infrastructure, the Public Works Department (PWD) has approved the transfer of a 13.2 km stretch of Delhi-Rohtak Road (NH-10) from Peeragarhi Chowk to Tikri Border to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The decision, endorsed by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, will facilitate the transformation of this key corridor into a world-class highway. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma approved the proposal and forwarded it to NHAI, stating that the upgrade will improve traffic flow, road conditions, and connectivity for thousands of daily commuters between Delhi and Haryana.

The stretch between Tikri Border and Nangloi Metro Station, a critical link to the Ring Road, sees heavy daily traffic. Persistent waterlogging issues have led to road damage, causing congestion and inconvenience for motorists. The proposed upgrade includes an improved drainage system, which will benefit residents in surrounding areas such as Nangloi, Mundka, Ghevra, and Tikri.

An earlier state government study highlighted that the width of existing drains on this road varies between 1 to 1.5 meters, whereas the proposed drainage system will expand up to 3 meters, significantly improving water flow and road durability.

Verma emphasized the government's commitment to infrastructure development, stating, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the approval of Gadkariji, I have approved and forwarded the proposal to NHAI for the much-needed upgrade of this stretch. Our double-engine government is focused on ensuring smoother traffic flow, enhanced connectivity, and world-class infrastructure.”
