Official promises attractive deal to Gannavaram ryots.
In-charge Collector Gandham Chandrudu has said that the government is expediting the land acquisition process for expansion of the Gannavaram airport under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS).
Speaking to the newsmen here on Monday, Mr. Chandrudu said out of 1,229 acres proposed for acquisition, 526.22 acres had been acquired and the process would be completed soon. The government will extend similar benefits to Gannavaram farmers who hand over their lands, like Amaravati farmers, the in charge Collector said.
Government will give 1,000 square yards residential land and 450 square yards commercial land will be given (for one acre land) to the farmers who handover land for the airport, besides Rs. 50,000. Lands will be given in the capital region, once land distribution for Amaravathi farmers is completed. “The 1,229 acres is located in 11 villages. Of the 926 farmers, 470 farmers had given lands and we are trying to contact the major farmers. Film director Aswini Dutt had given his land and actor U.V. Krishnam Raju is about to hand over his 32 acres land under the LPS,” Mr. Chandrudu said.
Majority of the farmers are coming forward to contribute their lands for expansion of the airport, and government is lifting all restrictions on land registrations in the area, and the locals can register their lands without any problem.
Like Amaravati, 15 acres has been allocated for setting a Skill Development Centre at Kondapavuluru village, near Gannavaram. Government has identified the villages, where the land value is less and we are trying to do justice to them. Loan waikver up to Rs. 1.5 lakh would be implemented.
A socio-economic survey would be done to identify the landless poor, and government would facilitate Rs. 25 lakh interest-free loans to the villagers, who share their land for the airport. Besides, 2,500 pension per month would be given to landless people for ten years, and 365 days work would be provided to the locals under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the in charge Collector said.
