NHDA commences work on PPP housing project
Colombo: The first project of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Programme of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) commenced recently at Pallekelle, Kandy, aimed at proper implementation of state sector housing development programmes.
The project was planned under the guidance of Housing and Common Amenities Minister, Ferial Ashraff and was to be implemented with the financial and technical assistance of local and international investors.
In total, about nine projects are planned to be implemented under this concept in different parts of the country.
In the first phase of the programme, 633 housing units are planned to be constructed within one year at Pallekelle-Kandy, Jaltara-Hanwella, Homagama and Siyane Uyana-Yakkala.
The project would be implemented on land owned by the NHDA with finance and technical inputs to the project.
The NHDA remains the marketer of the houses, providing them to needy people at affordable prices.
