"Nidec Invests ₹150 Crore to Expand Hubli-Dharwad Facility"

Japan-based Nidec has announced plans to invest an additional ₹150 crore to expand its operations in the Hubli-Dharwad industrial area of Karnataka. This follows its initial ₹450 crore investment in the state. The expansion will add 20 acres to Nidec's existing facility, bringing the total project size to 50 acres.

The announcement came after Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, visited Japan. The expanded facility, part of Nidec’s Motion & Energy segment, will house six factories producing alternators, motors, system solutions, and drives for sectors like data centers, electric vehicles (EVs), and elevators.

The construction began in April 2024 and is expected to be completed by March 2025, with commercial production set to start by October 2025. The project, spanning 62,000 square meters, is anticipated to create over 800 jobs and support key industries such as renewable energy and industrial automation.

M.B. Patil expressed strong support for Nidec’s growth, stating, "We are fully committed to assisting Nidec in every way, from land acquisition to resources, ensuring the project's smooth implementation."

The investment was formalized during a meeting attended by industry leaders, including Nidec executives and Karnataka state officials.
