NLC India, DVC, JSPL Among 27 Firms Bidding for 11 Blocks in 12th Commercial Coal Auction.

The 12th round of commercial coal block auctions has drawn significant interest, with 27 companies, including prominent players like Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), NLC India, and Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL), submitting bids for 11 coal blocks. The Ministry of Coal announced the developments recently.

This latest round of commercial coal block auctions was initiated in March of this year. The nominated authority has now opened the technical bids for this round, excluding six underground coal blocks. Out of the 22 coal blocks originally offered, competitive bids were received for 11.

The participation of both public sector undertakings like NLC India and DVC, alongside private sector giants such as JSPL, underscores the continued demand for coal resources in India's energy sector. The auction process is a key component of the government's strategy to enhance domestic coal production and reduce reliance on imports.

Further details regarding the successful bidders and the allocation of these blocks are expected to be announced following the completion of the evaluation process.
