NLC India Signs Pact with CSIR-CECRI to Advance Critical Mineral Exploration.

NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi, to strengthen collaboration in the field of critical and strategic minerals beneficiation and extraction technologies.

The agreement was signed by IS Jasper Rose, Executive Director (Mines & Land), NLCIL, and K Ramesha, Director, CSIR-CECRI, in the presence of Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Ltd.

As part of the collaboration, the two organisations will undertake detailed studies of overburden materials and tailings generated from NLCIL’s Neyveli mines. The studies will focus on assessing the potential for extraction and recovery of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) and other trace elements from these materials.

The partnership is expected to support research and development efforts aimed at harnessing critical mineral resources, which are increasingly important for emerging technologies, clean energy applications, and strategic industries.

The MoU reflects NLCIL’s commitment to exploring innovative and sustainable approaches for resource utilisation while leveraging CSIR-CECRI’s expertise in electrochemical and mineral processing technologies.
