NMDC Hits Record 53 MT Production in FY26.
National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has achieved a historic milestone by producing 53 million tonnes (MT) of iron ore in FY26, becoming the first company in India’s mining sector to surpass the 50 MT annual production mark.
The strong performance was underpinned by a robust March 2026, during which NMDC produced 5.35 MT and recorded sales of 5.90 MT. This represents a sharp year-on-year increase of 51 per cent in production and 40 per cent in sales compared to the same period last year.
For the full fiscal year, total production stood at 53.15 MT, marking a 21 per cent growth, while sales reached 50.23 MT, up 13 per cent. These figures represent the highest volumes recorded by the company since its inception.
The record-breaking output was driven by exceptional performance at NMDC’s key iron ore operations, including the Kirandul and Bacheli mines in Chhattisgarh and the Donimalai mine in Karnataka, all of which achieved their best-ever production levels.
