NMRDA Disburses ₹2,160 Crore for Land Acquisition Under New Nagpur Urban Development Project
Nagpur, November 1, 2026: The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has achieved a major milestone in the ₹11,300 crore New Nagpur urban development project, acquiring 893 acres of land and disbursing ₹2,160 crore in compensation to farmers. The project, planned across Godhani (Rithi) and Ladgaon (Rithi) villages in Hingna taluka, aims to establish a modern urban and business district.
The development requires approximately 676 hectares, including 664 hectares of privately owned land. So far, 202 farmers have agreed to surrender their holdings, while negotiations continue with 165 landowners controlling approximately 600 acres.
To accelerate acquisition, authorities are offering compensation at five times the ready reckoner rate, alongside a 1,500-square-foot developed plot for every acre surrendered. The Maharashtra government plans to implement the project in three phases over 15 years, creating a major business, commercial and residential hub while strengthening Nagpur's long-term economic growth and urban infrastructure.
