Nod for Gangavaram Port Expansion
Andhra Pradesh government recently gave clearance for the second phase development of Gangavaram Port located at Visakhapatnam at a revised cost of ` 1,318.73 crore.
As per the government order, the second phase development of the port includes expansion plan consisting of four berths (1 coal+3 multipurpose) with increased cargo handling capacity from 17.55 to 41.00 MMTPA within 5 years at a revised cost of ` 1318.73 crore.
'In view of the reasonable traffic forecast, the director of ports, Kakinada, requested the government to accord approval of the Project Implementation Report for Phase-II development of Gangavaram Port. Government, after careful consideration of the matter, accorded approval for the same subject to some conditions,' the government stated.
