NTPC Crosses 80 GW Mark with New Solar Commissioning.
India's leading power producer, NTPC, announced recently that its group's installed generation capacity has officially reached 80,265 MW. This significant milestone comes after its step-down subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, began commercial operations of a 110.25 MW portion of the massive 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project.
In a regulatory filing, the company confirmed that this initial 110.25 MW capacity, part of the larger Khavda-I project, was declared commercially operational starting June 6, 2025, at midnight. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, which itself is a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd.
This latest commissioning underscores NTPC's accelerating push towards renewable energy and its commitment to India's clean energy transition goals. The Khavda project, located in Gujarat, is set to be one of the largest single-location solar power projects in the world once fully operational, further solidifying NTPC's position in the green energy landscape. The addition of this solar capacity not only boosts the nation's renewable energy portfolio but also contributes to a more sustainable and diverse energy mix for India.
