Odisha CM Launches 27 Industrial Projects Worth ₹25,380 Crore.
The Odisha government is reinforcing its push for industrial growth with the foundation stone laying for 27 new industrial projects across 12 districts. The projects represent a combined investment of ₹25,380 crore and are projected to create over 51,826 new jobs.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted his administration's focus on a "speed of doing business," assuring industry leaders that Odisha would not only match but also exceed incentives offered by other states. "We have a stable government and a peaceful environment—what more do you need?" Majhi said, urging companies to partner with the state's vision for development.
Focus on Local Employment and High-Value Manufacturing
Majhi underscored his government’s commitment to providing employment for local residents, stating that nearly 80% of new jobs created by industries since he took office—56,859 out of 77,894—have gone to Odisha natives. “From promise to performance, and performance to implementation—every step reflects the pride of Odia Asmita,” he said.
The Chief Minister also noted a shift in the state's industrial strategy from mineral-based industries to high-value manufacturing, aligning with the state's long-term vision for Samruddha Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047. He added that this transition is a key step in helping Odisha climb the global manufacturing value chain.
Investment Milestones
Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain echoed the CM’s optimism, stating that the new projects reaffirm the government’s commitment to sustainable industrial growth and large-scale employment.
In the past 15 months, Odisha has approved a total of 260 industrial projects worth ₹5.6 lakh crore, with a potential to create 3.6 lakh jobs. Of these, 84 projects, representing ₹2 lakh crore in investment and 1.64 lakh jobs, have already begun work.
The groundbreaking ceremony included the virtual launch of major projects from companies such as SRF Ltd, Epsilon, Bajrang Steel & Power Ltd, Sova Solar, and Greenply Industries. These investments span diverse sectors, including renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and advanced downstream industries.
In a symbolic gesture, the CM also urged industries to support the "Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam 2.0" campaign, which aims to plant 75 lakh trees on September 17 to celebrate the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday. "Development and environment must go hand in hand," Majhi concluded.
