OIL Uncovers Fresh Gas Reserves at Dandewala Field in Rajasthan.
Oil India Limited has announced a modest but significant natural gas discovery in its nominated Dandewala Field in Rajasthan, marking a fresh development in the company’s exploration efforts.
The well recorded an average inflow of around 25,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD) of natural gas from a depth of approximately 950 metres and below, indicating encouraging deliverability and reservoir potential.According to the company, this is the first confirmed establishment of gas presence in the shallower Sanu Formation within the Dandewala Field. The finding opens a new exploration play and validates the company’s strategy of revisiting subsurface prospects through focused technical interventions and a “missed opportunities” approach.
Preliminary estimates based on structural interpretation, petrophysical studies, and subsurface analysis suggest gas-in-place resources of around 75 million standard cubic metres (MMSCM). The development is expected to improve the overall prospectivity of the field and support future appraisal and development activities aimed at enhancing resource recovery and production potential.
Oil India said the discovery strengthens its exploration portfolio and provides a basis for further technical evaluation and potential scaling up of output from the region.
