ONGC Unveils 4,000-Seat Convention Centre in Goa, Targets Filmfare-Scale Events.
A 4,000-seat convention centre overlooking the Arabian Sea has come up in pristine south Goa, aimed at hosting large conferences and marquee events, including Filmfare-scale award functions. Located just a 15-minute ferry ride from leading beachside resorts, the facility is expected to add a new dimension to the state’s tourism and events landscape.
The convention centre has been developed on the campus of the Advanced Training Institute (ATI) of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) at Betul in South Goa. Spread across nearly one million square metres, or about 250–270 acres, the ATI campus is primarily used for training ONGC personnel in safety and health, safety and environment (HSE) practices, with the training infrastructure occupying only a small portion of the land.
The idea for a permanent convention facility took shape in 2023, when a makeshift conference venue at the ATI campus hosted the second edition of India Energy Week. At the time, suitable convention centres capable of accommodating an event of that scale were not available elsewhere in the country. The success of that event underscored the potential of the location and led to the decision to build a dedicated, world-class convention centre, positioning Goa as a destination for large-scale national and international events.
