Optra ties up with TCS for Healthcare industry
Pune: Pune-based Optra Systems, a player in the life science and healthcare imaging informatics, has announced its partnership with Tata Consultancy Services to jointly design and implement complete imaging software solution for the life science and healthcare industry.
Talking to presspersons, Mr Abhi Gholap, President and Chief Executive Officer, Optra Systems, and Mr Raj Srinivasan, Head, BioSciences group, TCS, pointed out that both the organisations would pool their resources for building solutions. Mr Abhi said as a first step the company would launch an image informatics solution which would acquire images, analyse and share the images across the network. The solution is expected to be in the market by April and beta trials would begin in March this year. Mr Raj said it would be utilising the TCS Co-Innovation Network (COIN) for the development of the solutions.
Mr Abhi said that in North America the medical imaging market in 2006 was $4.9 billion and is estimated to touch $8.4 billion by 2011. And in the life science and pharmaceutical imaging, the figures stood at $2.3 billion (2006) and would reach $4.1 billion by 2011.
