Order probe into irregularities in BMIC project, Modi urged.

The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order a 'preliminary probe' into alleged irregularities in Bangalore–Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project by the former Comptroller and Auditor-General Vinod Rai.

In a letter to Mr. Modi, which was released to the media recently, Mr. Gowda said that in case of prima facie evidence of fraud in the project deal, the Prime Minister could order an in-depth probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the controversial project.

Mr. Gowda asked Mr. Modi to treat the BMIC project deal, executed by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) during his tenure as the Chief Minister in 1996, as a 'test case' before going ahead with his plan of public-private partnership for the development of the country

'Mr. Modi can also take a peep into some of the projects implemented in Karnataka, including development of the Kempegowda International Airport,' he noted.
