Orissa plans to develop common coal corridor

The Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) is planning to develop a common coal corridor along Meramundali-Angul-Talcher-Chhhendipada in Orissa.The 143-km stretch common coal corridor, will have a capacity to handle 138 million tpa of coal. The project will be executed as a special purpose vehicle (SPV).

The state government has IDCO to execute the project as a corporation. The Corporation will find a suitable agency for planning and designing the project.

The state government has approved fiunds to the tune of Rs.8000 crore to the corporation. While IDCO will take up land acquisition for the corridor using its own funds, OMC to provide funding support through inter-corporate loan.
