Over Rs 14 billion allocated for construction of roads

Sialkot: Punjab government has set aside more than Rs 14 billion during current fiscal period for the construction of new roads and widening of existing roads in the province. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that under the programme 600-km long new roads would be constructed while existing 700-km roads would be widened in various parts of the Punjab.

Under the programme about 10 feet roads would be widened to 20 feet while 12 feet roads would be widened to 24 feet. The step was being taken for further improving the means of communication system and to ensure safe and hassle-free travelling facility to the masses in the Punjab, sources added.
