Patna Plans 651-Acre Sports Hub in Proposed Patliputra Greenfield Township.

Patna’s proposed Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township will feature a 651-acre sports hub, including a Sports City, an 187-acre golf course and a 239-acre modern sports complex, as part of Bihar’s plans to develop world-class sporting infrastructure.

A meeting on the proposed sports facilities was held in Patna recently under the chairmanship of Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra. Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh also attended the meeting, where officials reviewed plans for the Sports City and other sporting facilities in the greenfield township.

Mishra said the government was focused on creating modern sports infrastructure to help Bihar’s youth develop their talent and compete at national and international levels.

“Patliputra township will become a centre of world-class sports facilities,” he said, adding that the initiative would provide athletes with better infrastructure for training, practice and competitions.

Under the integrated township plan, around 225 acres will be earmarked for the Sports City, while 187 acres will be developed as a golf course and another 239 acres as a modern sports complex.

The proposed Sports City will have advanced facilities for multiple sporting disciplines, along with infrastructure for training and competitions. The sports complex will cater to a wide range of sporting activities and provide modern facilities for both residents and athletes.

Singh said the township should be developed as a future-ready urban centre with modern civic amenities as well as high-quality sports infrastructure. The proposed facilities would be developed in line with Olympic standards, enabling Bihar to host national and international sporting events and provide athletes with opportunities for world-class training and competition.

She also said land for sports facilities would be identified in all 12 proposed townships across Bihar to ensure adequate and quality sports infrastructure in each development.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Urban Development and Housing Department and the Sports Department, including UDHD Principal Secretary Vinay Kumar, Sports Department Secretary Deepak Anand, Sports Department Director Arif Ahsan and UDHD Additional Secretary Manoj Kumar.
