Patna’s Patna Metro Malahi Pakri station set to open soon.

In a significant boost to urban mobility in Bihar’s capital, metro services up to Malahi Pakri station are set to begin operations shortly as part of the Patna Metro priority corridor.

The development comes after approval from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), clearing the stretch on the Blue Line’s priority section. The newly constructed elevated station has already undergone successful trial runs and is now ready for passenger operations. According to the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRC), Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is expected to inaugurate the station soon, marking the completion of the priority corridor’s remaining segment.

Located in the busy Kankarbagh area, Malahi Pakri is a key station on Corridor II (Blue Line), which is designed to connect Patna Junction in the south with the Patliputra Inter-State Bus Terminal in the north. The station has been equipped with modern passenger amenities, including CCTV surveillance, security systems, baggage screening, ticketing facilities, lifts, escalators, and accessibility infrastructure.

The priority corridor spans around 6.5 km of elevated track between Malahi Pakri and the New ISBT, covering five stations — Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and New ISBT. An initial 3.6 km stretch between Bhootnath and New ISBT, comprising three stations, was inaugurated in October 2025, marking the launch of Bihar’s first metro service.

With Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak now being added, the entire priority corridor is set to become fully operational, significantly improving connectivity in eastern Patna. Khemnichak, which will serve as an interchange between Corridor I (Danapur–Khemnichak) and Corridor II, is expected to become operational by the end of 2026.

Officials said trial runs on the Bhootnath–Malahi Pakri section, including Khemnichak, were successfully conducted under the supervision of CMRS and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation experts. “All civil, structural, electrical, and safety works at Malahi Pakri have been completed, linking it seamlessly with the existing operational route. Approval to run metro services up to Malahi Pakri has been granted and it will be launched for public use soon,” a Patna Metro official said.
