PM Modi Launches Major Development Initiatives in Kevadia, Gujarat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated significant development projects in Kevadia recently, unveiling initiatives worth over ₹284 crore aimed at enhancing tourism, accessibility, and sustainability in the region.

The projects include new tourism and attraction centers designed to elevate the global profile of the Statue of Unity area while providing world-class facilities for visitors in Ekta Nagar. Notable inaugurations featured the bonsai garden, sewage treatment plant, and the Sardar Sarovar Dam Experience Centre, all contributing to the area’s appeal as a major tourist destination.

The Prime Minister also opened a new 50-bed sub-district hospital, constructed at a cost of ₹22 crore, which is equipped with essential medical facilities, including a trauma center, CT scan, ICU, labor room, and operation theater. In a move to enhance emergency response, an "ICU-on-wheels" service was introduced to provide immediate care in critical situations.

To improve traffic management and beautify Ekta Nagar, the government has beautified traffic circles and constructed 10 smart bus stops and 10 pick-up stands, with the first phase inaugurated during the event.

Additionally, a 20-day sculpture symposium held in July 2024 resulted in 24 sculptures inspired by the themes of "water, nature, and unity," now displayed across public spaces in Ekta Nagar to further boost its tourism potential.

“Key development works in Kevadia will further enhance the facilities there,” PM Modi posted on X, emphasizing the importance of these initiatives.

The inauguration also included the first phase of a walkway connecting Bus Khadi to Viewpoint-1 and a newly constructed road from Ekta Dwar to Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan. Furthermore, a four-megawatt solar project worth ₹23.26 crore was launched, marking a step towards green energy for Ekta Nagar.

Environmental efforts were also prioritized with the expansion of the Bonsai Garden and Miyawaki Forest, providing a unique experience for nature enthusiasts. In response to flooding issues experienced in 2023, the protective wall near the Cactus Garden will be expanded to ensure safety and enhance tourist facilities.

Work has begun in Garudeshwar on land elevation for a ₹60 crore hospitality district redevelopment project aimed at mitigating flood risks and supporting sustainable development.

The release noted, “With these projects, Ekta Nagar is set to become a national model, not only for tourism but also for sustainable development and civic facilities,” reflecting a blend of robust infrastructure and eco-friendly policies to create an inviting destination for visitors. The Prime Minister also inspected project displays showcasing the ongoing development initiatives in Ekta Nagar.
