PPPAC gives nod for 7 projects worth Rs. 52,200-mn

New Delhi: The 23rd meeting of the Public Private Partnership Approval Committee (PPPAC) has granted approval to seven projects of the Department of Shipping and Department of Road Transport and Highways. The estimated cost of the approved projects is Rs 5,220.15 crore.

The meeting was chaired by the Economic Affairs Secretary, Mr Ashok Chawla. With this clearance, financial bids can now be invited for these seven projects.

Of the seven projects located in five States, two were from the port sector and five were from the highways sector under NHDP phase III and III-A, an official release said here on Tuesday.

The seven projects are development of multipurpose cargo berths at Kandla Port, and Kutch (Rs 702 crore); setting up of an iron ore handling facility at New Mangalore port (Rs 277.11 crore); 4-laning of Talegaon-Amravati section in Maharashtra (Rs 610.59 crore); 4-laning of Dindigul-Theni section and Mumli-Theni section in Tamil Nadu (Rs 813 crore); 4-laning of Dindivanam-Krishnagiri section in Tamil Nadu (Rs 1,075 crore); 4-laning of Muzaffarpur-Sonbarsa in Bihar (Rs 932.6 crore) and 4-laning of Pune-Sholapur in Maharashtra (Rs 809.85 crore)

Since its constitution in January 2006, PPPAC has granted approval to 101 projects, with an estimated project cost of Rs 1,00,383.89 crore. These include highways (eighty-eight projects), ports (nine projects), airports (two projects), tourism infrastructure (one project) and railways (one project).
