Prestige Group-BACL Alliance to Build Convention Centre at Bangalore Airport, Backed by ₹1,800 Crore Investment.
Real estate developer Prestige Group has partnered with Bangalore Airport City Ltd (BACL) to develop a 14.2-acre convention centre within the Bangalore Airport City precinct, marking a significant addition to the airport's expanding commercial ecosystem.
Prestige Group plans to invest approximately ₹1,800 crore in the project. Construction is expected to commence in 2027, with the convention centre slated for inauguration by 2031.
The development underscores a broader trend among Indian airports to evolve beyond their traditional role as transit hubs and emerge as integrated business, hospitality and lifestyle destinations. Airport-led urban developments such as Delhi's Aerocity and Hyderabad's GMR Aerocity have already demonstrated the potential of combining office spaces, hotels, retail outlets and entertainment facilities within airport-adjacent districts.
Bangalore Airport City is seeking to establish a distinct positioning within this landscape by emphasizing large-scale convention infrastructure, next-generation corporate campuses, concert venues and innovation-driven commercial districts. The proposed convention centre is expected to strengthen Bengaluru's appeal as a destination for business events, conferences and exhibitions while supporting the city's growing status as a global technology and innovation hub.
