Private firms to be involved in Valankulam development work.

Coimbatore Corporation Council recently passed a resolution approving of requests from two companies to take part in the Valankulam development work. In a resolution, the civic body said that Brooke Fields Estate Pvt. Ltd.’s request of November 2015 for carrying out development work under its supervision and a similar request from Anamalai Agencies Pvt. Ltd. could be approved. While passing the resolution, the Corporation also invited corporate companies in Coimbatore to participate in the project by spending their corporate social responsibility fund.

The Corporation also decided to collect uniform connection charge and annual usage charge for underground drainage from old city and added area residents when providing house service connection. Ward 42 Councillor from CPM V. Ramamoorthy objected to the resolution saying that the civic body should reduce the connection and usage charges.

In another resolution, the Coimbatore Corporation also engaged Mahindra Consulting Engineers, Chennai, to prepare a detailed project report for the proposed integrated bus stand in Vellalore.

The Corporation also decided to renovate the night shelters in R.S. Puram and build new ones in Poosaripalayam and Ganapathy. In another resolution, the civic body decided to engage a transaction advisor to scrutinise the proposal received for the multi-level car parking projects in city.

The Council also approved a resolution to grant Mayor the powers to approve of the city assessment, area based proposal, pan city proposal, implementation plan and financial plan prepared under the Smart City project and form the special purpose vehicle to execute the projects.
