Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate four redeveloped railway stations in Punjab under the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme on July 17, Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon said recently.
According to a statement issued by Dhillon, the Prime Minister will physically inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station, while three other stations — S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Sri Muktsar Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib — will be virtually dedicated to the nation.
Dhillon described the redevelopment of the stations as a major milestone for Punjab’s railway infrastructure, saying the upgraded facilities have been transformed into modern, passenger-friendly transport hubs while retaining their local heritage and architectural character.
The redevelopment works include upgraded passenger amenities, improved accessibility, modern waiting areas, enhanced concourses, renovated platforms, lifts, escalators and other commuter-focused facilities.
“Under the visionary leadership of PM Modi, Railways is undergoing an unprecedented transformation, with the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aimed at redeveloping railway stations across the country into modern gateways that promote connectivity, tourism, trade, and economic growth,” Dhillon said.
He added that the inauguration reflects the Centre’s focus on strengthening infrastructure in Punjab and providing improved public facilities through continued investments in rail, road and other critical infrastructure projects.
