PWD Invites Compensation Claims for Land Acquired for Ponda–Bhoma Highway Widening.

The special land acquisition officer of the Public Works Department (PWD) has invited compensation claims from landowners whose properties have been acquired for the widening of the Ponda–Bhoma highway.

According to officials, an additional 46,308 square metres of land has been acquired for the project. A formal notification has been issued covering areas in the villages of Priol, Veling, Kunkoliem, and Kundaim.

Special land acquisition officer Suraj Ghaisas said that once claims are received from landowners, the government will include their names in the valuation award list. The list will also account for the cost of trees that have been marked for removal as part of the expansion work.

The highway development project includes the construction of a six-lane flyover between the Dilasa Palliative Care Centre and the Farmagudi traffic police station. Except for the flyover stretch, the remaining road will be developed as a four-lane corridor.

As part of the plan, 60-metre-wide underpasses are proposed at the Mardol and Mangueshi junctions, while a 20-metre underpass will be constructed near Vaishali Hotel in Kundaim. In addition, a vehicular overpass is planned at the major roundabout near the GVM’s College complex.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has awarded the tender for the project to Gurugram-based GeetAsia for ₹273 crore. However, the official work order from the ministry is still awaited.
