Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd Emerges Lowest Bidder for Southern Railway Contract.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been declared the Lowest Bidder (L1) by Southern Railway for a major electrification project under the railways’ Mission 3000 MT loading target.

The contract involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of traction substations (Scott-connected), along with power quality compensating equipment, switching posts (SP/SSP), and systems for SCADA and Automatic Fault Locator (AFL). The work will be carried out on the Jolarpettai Junction – Salem Junction (JTJ-SA) section under the Salem Division of Southern Railway.

The total cost of the project is approximately ₹145.34 crore (₹145,34,66,865.48), inclusive of applicable taxes.

This project is part of Indian Railways' broader push to enhance electrification and modernize infrastructure to meet its ambitious freight movement targets.
