Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd Secures Letter of Acceptance from Southern Railway.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been awarded a significant contract by Southern Railway for the upgradation of the electric traction system in a crucial section of its network. The Letter of Acceptance (LOA) details the work on the Salem Jn. (SA)-Podanur Jn. (PTJ) and Irugur (IGU)-Coimbatore Jn. (CBE)-Podanur Jn. (PTJ) sections of the Salem division.
The project involves upgrading the electric traction system from the current 1x25 kV to a more robust 2x25 kV system. This enhancement is vital to meet the ambitious 3000 MT loading target, signaling a substantial increase in freight handling capacity for the region.
The total cost of the work is pegged at ₹143,37,87,127.90 (Rupees One Hundred And Forty-Three Crore Thirty-Seven Lakh Eighty-Seven Thousand One Hundred And Twenty-Seven and Ninety Paise Only), inclusive of applicable taxes.
This contract underscores RVNL's crucial role in modernizing India's railway infrastructure and boosting its capacity for freight movement.
