Railway Minister Vaishnaw Lays Foundation Stone for Jamalpur Workshop Expansion.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today visited the historic Jamalpur railway workshop to lay foundation stones for new facilities, marking a significant step towards the modernization of one of India's oldest and most prestigious railway establishments.

Vaishnaw, who arrived in Patna last night, boarded a special train from Patna Junction to Jamalpur this morning. He was accompanied by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan', Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and other senior officials from the railways.

"The Railway minister will lay the foundation stones of new facilities at the Jamalpur railway workshop, one of the oldest and most prestigious railway workshops in the country," said Sarswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer for the East Central Railway (ECR).

The Jamalpur railway workshop, established on February 8, 1862, holds the distinction of being the country's first full-fledged railway workshop facility.

Officials in the ECR zone stated that the Railway Minister is also expected to conduct an inspection of ongoing modernization efforts and review the operational capabilities of the workshop. Vaishnaw is scheduled to return to Patna around 5 PM before departing for New Delhi.
