Rajasthan Set to Become India’s Top Cement Producer with ₹17,000 Crore Jaisalmer Projects.

Rajasthan is on course to become the country’s largest cement-producing state, with Jaisalmer poised to emerge as a key manufacturing hub. Backed by investments exceeding ₹17,000 crore, six new cement plants are scheduled to come up in the district between 2026 and 2029, adding nearly 16 million tonnes of annual production capacity.

Currently, Andhra Pradesh leads with 62.5 million tonnes of installed capacity, while Rajasthan follows at 55 million tonnes. With the upcoming Jaisalmer plants, Rajasthan is expected to surpass Andhra Pradesh and take the top spot.

In addition to Jaisalmer, ongoing projects in Nagaur and established plants in Chittorgarh—currently the state’s top-producing region—are further strengthening Rajasthan’s cement production landscape.

“These new plants are not just MoUs or proposals,” said a senior official from the Bureau of Investment Promotion. “The companies involved are some of the country’s leading cement manufacturers, and they’ve already been allotted limestone mining leases. It’s only a matter of time before operations begin.”

Jaisalmer, traditionally known for tourism, has seen significant investment in solar and wind energy over the past 15 years. The entry of the cement industry marks a new chapter in the district’s industrial growth.

With approximately 2.5 billion tonnes of proven limestone reserves—about 26% of India’s total—Rajasthan offers ideal conditions for cement manufacturing. Its proximity to major markets in northern and western India, coupled with strong transport infrastructure, makes it a strategic hub for the industry, according to industry representatives.
