Reconstruction projects completed in Kunar
Asadabad: Officials of Provincial Development Committee in the eastern Kunar province announced that they have completed impressive numbers of reconstruction projects resulting from the improved performance of their employees in the last three months.
Patron of the committee, Sangar said that the employees are being trained by technical advisors embedded in the government offices to be professional administrators. They have learned, for example, things such as how to plan and prepare a meeting agenda, use a computer, write meeting minutes, and organize a filing system. These new skills have enhanced their performance, allowing them to spend more time managing projects.
Sangar added that the technical advisors specially trained the staff how to write proposals, which paid off in terms of an increase in the number of project proposals that were accepted to serve their constituents.
'We witnessed a remarkable improvement, he said. 'Over the past three months, we have improved our coordination and our efficiency in the meetings of the committee.
The Provincial Development Committee (PDC) works in the province based on the Provincial Development Plan (PDP). Sangar said at least 17 staff members of the PDC have been trained in administrative skills this quarter.
Syed Bakhtawar, administrator of the PDC said he was well trained how to file and organize and in other methods to improve his workflow. 'We are now able to get the documents of two or three years from our files within minutes,' he continued. The technical assistance to train the government officials is part of the Local Governance and Community Development program, sponsored by the US Agency for International Development.
