The Residency Hotels, the hospitality arm of Chennai-based Appasamy Group, has launched The Residency Signature, a luxury hotel and convention centre in Madurai, with an investment of around ₹450 crore.
The project reflects the group’s confidence in Madurai’s growing potential as a hub for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), destination weddings, large social events and spiritual tourism, said Rohit Ravi Appaswamy, Managing Director of The Residency Hotels and Appaswamy Real Estates Limited.
The launch marks the eighth hotel in The Residency Hotels portfolio. The group currently operates two hotels in Chennai, two in Puducherry, and one each in Karur, Coimbatore and Rameswaram. It also owns a luxury property in the Maldives, the St. Regis Vommuli Resort, which is managed by Marriott.
Spread across seven acres and covering nearly five lakh square feet, The Residency Signature features 186 guest rooms and suites, along with extensive banquet and event facilities. The property also includes a dedicated convention centre, positioning it as a major venue for corporate events, exhibitions, weddings and large-scale social gatherings.
With the new launch, the group aims to strengthen its presence in South India’s hospitality sector while tapping into the increasing demand for premium accommodation and event infrastructure in Madurai, one of the country’s leading pilgrimage and tourism destinations.
