Sanmar Group Expands Engineering Manufacturing at OneHub Chennai.

Chennai-based Sanmar Group is set to expand its engineering business with new manufacturing facilities at the Ascendas OneHub Industrial Park in Chennai.

The $1.5-billion conglomerate, which has a presence in chemicals, shipping, engineering, and metals across the US, Mexico, and Egypt, has finalized a deal to establish operations within the 1,250-acre industrial park. OneHub Chennai is a joint venture between CapitaLand Development, Mizuho Bank, and JGC Corporation, offering world-class infrastructure along the Old Mahabalipuram Road.

“Sanmar Group has secured land within OneHub Chennai Industrial Park, with BS & B Safety Systems acquiring about 4.5 acres and Flowserve Sanmar taking 7.5 acres for expansion,” a CapitaLand spokesperson confirmed.

BS & B Safety Systems, a joint venture with US-based BS&B Safety Systems Inc., specializes in rupture disks, rupture disk assemblies, and burst alert sensors. Meanwhile, Flowserve Sanmar, a partnership with Flowserve Corporation, US, manufactures engineered mechanical sealing devices such as pusher seals, dry running seals, and metal bellows seals. Both companies currently operate from their existing units in Karapakkam, Chennai.

Sanmar Group declined to comment on the expansion plans.
