SECI's Total Awarded Renewable Energy Capacity Crosses 73 GW Mark.
State-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) announced that its cumulative awarded renewable energy project capacity crossed 73 GW as of December 31, 2024. This milestone underscores SECI's critical role as India’s premier Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA), driving the nation’s climate goals and sustainable development initiatives.
According to SECI’s statement, the organization, a key Central Public Sector Enterprise, has been instrumental in expanding India’s renewable energy capacity. SECI also reported receiving an "Excellent" rating for its performance under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) for FY 2023-24, scoring 96 out of 100.
The financial year 2023-24 saw significant growth for SECI, with a 22.13% rise in annual trading volume, amounting to 42.935 billion units. The company recorded a total income of ₹13,135.80 crore, marking a 20.91% increase from the previous year, and a Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹436.03 crore, reflecting a 38.13% growth.
Additionally, on August 30, 2024, SECI was granted Navratna status by the Ministry of Finance, a recognition of its outstanding performance and strategic importance in advancing India’s renewable energy sector.
