Shipping Firms Set to Announce ₹10 Lakh Crore Investment MoUs During Maritime Week.

The Indian shipping and port sector is set to receive a major investment boost, with Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹10 lakh crore expected to be announced at the upcoming India Maritime Week in Mumbai later this month, according to Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

The five-day event will highlight India’s maritime growth plans and recent reforms aimed at attracting large-scale domestic and global investment. The MoUs will span the entire maritime ecosystem, including shipbuilding, shipyards, port modernisation, and related infrastructure.

“These investments are spread across states and sectors, with participation from both public and private players. We’ve also received strong international interest,” Kumar said on Tuesday.

India Maritime Week is part of the government’s broader push to position the country as a global maritime hub and stimulate economic activity in logistics, trade, and coastal development.
