The Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI) has established nine consumer testing centres in main retail hubs in Bengaluru.

It has introduced a quick and easy method for customers to get their silks tested for purity by trained personnel.

“The consumer is provided with purity tests such as flame test, microscopic test, and an invoice and a sample test report will be given after the test,” said KM Hanumantharayappa, Chairman, Central Silk Board, and SMOI.

The tests are carried out without disturbing the structure of the sarees and other materials at a cost of Rs. 20 per test. The tests are done instantly and the report will be issued on the spot.
