Snowflake's Pune Innovation Center Designated as Global Center of Excellence, Confirms India MD.

US-based AI Data Cloud company Snowflake is reinforcing its commitment to India by investing in local infrastructure to fuel market growth and deepen partnerships with customers, announced Vijayant Rai, Managing Director for India. Snowflake, valued at $38.52 billion, currently employs over 600 people in India, with a significant presence in its Pune-based Center of Excellence (CoE), part of a global network that spans 7,500 employees across 45 offices.

The Pune Innovation Center acts as a global CoE, employing 500-600 staff, and has launched the "Snow on Snow" initiative—a proof-of-concept program demonstrating Snowflake's data platform capabilities for functions like HR, finance, and sales. Beyond in-house innovation, the center also co-develops industry-specific solutions with partners, supporting Snowflake's mission to help scale solutions on its platform.

Rai noted that India, where Snowflake has been operating for about five years, remains a key growth market. Snowflake’s local client base includes several hundred companies across diverse sectors, such as financial services, digital retail, and manufacturing. Noteworthy clients include Piramal Finance, which has achieved regulatory compliance, management dashboarding, and other critical data needs on Snowflake’s Data Cloud. The Pune CoE has helped Piramal achieve 3-4x data usage growth and cost savings of over one crore rupees.

Other prominent clients in India include Urban Company, which has leveraged Snowflake for efficient auto-scaling and operational gains of up to 10x, reducing query times from 20 minutes to under two minutes. Razorpay benefits from Snowflake’s real-time data-sharing capabilities for fraud prevention and reconciliation, while Swiggy has seen a 92% reduction in failed queries exceeding five minutes, with query speed enhanced by 20% at reduced costs.

With offices in major global hubs like Bozeman, Amsterdam, and Tokyo, Snowflake continues to expand its influence in India and beyond, focusing on strengthening its AI and data services as it scales to meet evolving market demands.
