SoftBank-Owned Graphcore to Invest $1.3 Billion in India, Launch AI Research Hub in Bengaluru.

Graphcore, the British chip designer owned by SoftBank Group Corp., is set to announce a £1 billion ($1.3 billion) investment in India, including the establishment of a new AI research hub in Bengaluru.

The announcement is expected during a visit by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to India this week, as part of a delegation of UK businesses, according to sources familiar with the plans who requested anonymity due to the confidential nature of discussions.

Based in Bristol, Graphcore plans to open the Bengaluru research facility and aims to hire up to 500 employees over the next five years, underscoring its commitment to expanding its presence in India’s growing technology ecosystem.
