Software compaies occupy Trichy IT Park

Trichy: The upcoming IT Park at Trichy, spread across 147 acres, has been fully booked by BPOs and IT companies.

According to Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Elcot) sources, the promoters of the park, two IT majors Cognizant Technology Solutions and Sutherland Global Services and about 15 BPOs would occupy the park in the first phase.

Elcot is already in the process of handing over the site to Sutherland and a substantial part of the park has been earmarked for Cognizant. The BPOs are being allotted 2 acres each.

Simultaneously, Elcot is also planning to construct 15,000 square feet of built-up space in the first phase. Another two million sft of built-up area spread over 50 acres in the park is being developed as a joint venture with a private entity.

With the Centre granting Special Economic Zone status to the IT Park, the Elcot board has formerly approved construction of internal roads and other amenities at an outlay of Rs 25 crore.

Elcot is also preparing for the construction of a perimetre wall for the park and is awaiting the handing over of the 100 feet link road by the state highways along the Trichy–Pudukottai highway.
